To celebrate Astro’s new shop, we’re excited to launch our first ever design contest.
We want to bring the Astro community’s creativity to life through amazing merchandise that showcases your astronomical artistic talent and our shared love for making the web more delightful!
Contest Guidelines
Theme
The theme for our inaugural design contest is the Spirit of Astro 🌈 ✨ 🚀
Looking for inspiration? Here are some ideas to jump start your creativity:
- 🏝️ Islands (remember to partially hydrate!)
- 🧑🚀 Friendly astronauts on cosmic adventures
- 🪐 Houston exploring new worlds
- 🛸 Interfaces and tools from the future
- 💾 Retro computing and web 1.0
- What does it feel like to build with Astro?
- What’s your favorite Astro feature? What does it look like?
Submission Requirements
- Original artwork only — your submission must be your own creation.
- No AI-generated artwork.
- Submit up to 3 unique designs — pick your favorite designs to share with us.
- Files must be high-resolution (300 DPI) PNGs or SVGs. If your design is selected, we may ask for source files (e.g. Figma, Illustrator, etc.) if we need to make adjustments for print, so please hang on to those!
- Keep in mind that designs need to be printed — think of what colors and styles will work well on a product.
Product Specifications
We’re looking for designs which can be used on the following products:

Notes:
- T-shirts and hoodies will be printed directly onto the garment fabric.
- Mugs cannot be printed around the handle area, so designs will look best if they keep that in mind.
- Stickers will be printed on a sheet of a single color and will have an outline in that color. For example, a black Astro logo printed on a white sheet will have a white outline around it even after being peeled off the sheet.
- We may decide to combine sticker designs from multiple contestants on a single sheet.
Prizes
- Winning designs will be produced and sold in the Astro Shop with profits going to support Astro’s open source work.
- Winners receive a merchandise pack, including their design and a limited edition Astro backpack.
- Shout outs in Astro’s social media and community channels.
Important Dates

- Winners Announced: August 15, 2025

Terms and conditions
Eligibility
- The Spirit of Astro Design Contest is open to individuals aged 18 or older.
- Void where prohibited by law.
Intellectual property
- By submitting, you certify that your design is original and does not infringe on any third-party rights.
- Contestants retain ownership of their designs but grant Astro a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free license to use, modify, reproduce, and distribute submissions for any purpose.
Usage rights
- Winning designs may be modified for production purposes.
- Astro reserves the right to combine multiple submitted designs for sticker sheets.
Privacy
- Personal information will only be used for contest administration and winner notification.
General conditions
- Submissions must comply with stated requirements, including file specifications and no use of AI-generated content.
- Astro reserves the right to disqualify entries that violate these terms or cancel/modify the contest if necessary.
- Merchandise pack prize is only available to winners resident in territories Astro is able to ship merchandise to.
- Winners will be notified by August 15, 2025.
